Introducing
Equestrian Tai Chi Connected Riding
For Riders who'd like to practice Equestrian Tai Chi and to awaken and develop their internal energy/Chi and have a Chi Connection with their horse riding.
How would it feel for your energy to be so smooth and balanced that you horse is drawn to wanting to connect with you?
And for you to be able to balance your energy and your horse's energy and deepen your connection together with a practice that takes just a very short time every day or so, but has lasting effects?
And to be able to communicate to your horse from inside you and give subtle energetic aids that your horse can easily understand.
And to feel your Chi flow in harmony with the movement of your horse when you're riding.
And for you and your horse to be both aware of this connection together, sharing the one awareness that comes from a deeper place inside you than your ordinary thinking mind.
You can learn to use and develop something that you already have to achieve this, and that is your internal energy or Chi.
A little bit about me …
Hi, my name is Jenny Pim.
I'm the founder and creator of Equestrian Tai Chi®.
So what is Equestrian Tai Chi, how did all this begin?
Briefly, I'm a Tai Chi Instructor and I also used to breed Connemara ponies, so to save time and to integrate my two passions, I'd practice Tai Chi exercises on horseback in little breaks while I was out exercising ponies and I'd run through lesson plans for evening Tai Chi classes.
I soon realised the effect it had on the ponies and also on myself! I never forget the first time I practiced, I felt like I was suspended between Heaven and Earth.
I began to notice that the ponies I practiced on were enjoying our practice, they would lick and chew and drop their heads and relax. I noticed the ponies became calmer and less spooky.
The ponies loved our Tai Chi practice and they would stop and “ask” to do it in places we had previously practiced, it calmed them and relaxed them. It gave me a great feeling of us being connected, and going on adventures together.
But Tai Chi is only useful if it opens and develops the different aspects of your energy system, so I adapted the Form as the Tai Chi sequence is known to do this on horseback.
Then I began to teach it to others.
From the Equestrian Tai Chi Form I began to develop a way of riding where I could communicate with my pony through my energy riding and where I could feel my chi flow in harmony with my horse riding and where I could give aids through my energy riding that my pony could understand and follow. He needed no training in this, he was able to sense what I was asking.
I began to teach this, helping people to learn how to awaken and develop their energy, with specialised energy exercises developed for riding.
They too were able to communicate with their horse through their energy.
We called this way of riding Chi Connected Riding, because that's exactly what it feels like.
It feels like you're very closely connected to you horse through your energy.
Have you ever wondered why you can't feel your energy or Chi?
I used to wonder about this all the time and I eventually learned the reason why.
It's not because we're insensitive or unaware!
We all come with an energy system, humans, horses, birds, insects, plants, trees, even The Earth itself, but we humans do not come with the automatic ability to access it. This is the reason we can't feel our energy or Chi, otherwise we'd all be going around able to feel it!
It's a known thing in Taoism that humans do not come with the automatic ability to access their energy, which is why they spent thousands of years developing ways for them to do this!
In contrast, horses appear to be more energetically aware and sensitive than we are, they seem to have more spontaneous access to their energy system than we do.
I noticed straight away that horses were more affected by Equestrian Tai Chi practice than humans, and I was always questioning this.
Then each time I would reach a new stage in developing my energy practicing Equestrian Tai Chi and riding, I realised that my pony was already there, he could immediately notice this new communication between us.
This led me to the conclusion that though we come with similar energy systems, us and our horses, while we humans have to work to develop our energy (as is known in Taoism), it would appear that our horses don't.
In effect we are unequal to our horse but it is possible to redress this balance by learning to develop our energy
There's something that has crept into our society that's becoming detrimental to it...
It's the need for speed, to disregard things that take time, to want things instantly, to try to extract the basics of a thing, thinking it is enough and therefore never reaching the place that the whole thing could bring us to.
Developing energy needs time. In the same that a plant needs time to grow, our Chi needs time to develop.
I've spent years developing programs for riders, so they can have deeper connections with their horses and learn to develop themselves so they can have a more subtle way of riding their horse and being with their horse.
I'm a Certified Tai Chi Instructor registered with the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain and a Certified Riding Coach registered with Horse Sport Ireland. I'm the founder and creator of Equestrian Tai Chi®.
My passion is to bring what I learn from Tai Chi and Taoist Arts to help people to develop themselves energetically and enhance their relationships with their horses, whether it be riding or in their ordinary day to day connections with them.
I have taught many different types of people, for many years, how to connect with their energy, and I believe that it is an ability we all have within us
Equestrian Tai Chi Connected Riding is a program where you'll learn Equestrian Tai Chi and to awaken and develop your internal energy and have a chi connection with your horse riding.
Here's what you'll learn:-
The Equestrian Tai Chi Form
The alignments for Equestrian Tai Chi Connected Riding.
Both physical and energetic, that will promote the smooth flow of Chi in our body and allow us to absorb and let the energy of the movement of the horse flow through us.
Heaven and Earth Energy Riding
We learn to bring the energies of Heaven and Earth into us when we're riding and unite them in harmony in us. This is both grounding and spiritually uplifting at the same time, horses love it and it’s calming and connecting for us.
Tai Chi Principles
We’re going to learn Tai Chi principles and bring them into our riding experience, so our whole body feels integrated and connected.
Feeling Chi Flow Riding
We're going to learn to feel chi flow riding, to feel the flow of energy that the movement of the horse creates in us and how it synchronises our energies.
Feeling and releasing Blocked Energy
When we can feel our Chi flow, it's easier for us to feel where it's blocked or doesn't flow as well, we learn how to find and release blocked energy riding.
Communicating with our horse through our energy riding
We're going to learn to communicate with our horse through our energy riding.
Here is what you'll learn as you progress through the program:-
There are Four Sections in the program, each section is three months/12 Weeks long, with a one-week break in between the sections.
In the First Section:-
- We learn movements from The Equestrian Tai Chi Form and Equestrian Chi Gung Exercises.
- We learn to feel our Chi and Seal our Chi.
- We learn alignments and guidelines for Equestrian Tai Chi practice.
- We'll learn Taoist Breathing Exercises to open and develop our energy on horseback.
- We learn about our internal connections and harmonies through specialised energy exercises.
- We learn Alignments for Equestrian Tai Chi Connected Riding.
- We begin learning to feel our Chi flow in the Equestrian Tai Chi exercises.
In the Second Section:-
- We continue learning movements from The Equestrian Tai Chi Form.
- We learn Alignments for Equestrian Tai Chi Connected Riding.
- We learn Heaven and Earth Energy Riding where we learn to bring the energies of Heaven and Earth into us when we're riding and unite them in us. This is grounding and spiritually uplifting at the same time and it's calming and connecting for us both.
In the Third Section:-
- We continue learning movements from The Equestrian Tai Chi Form.
- We learn to Feel Chi flow on Horseback, to feel the flow that the energy of the movement of the horse creates in us as we ride. When we can feel our chi flow, our horse can tune in to us and we can begin to have a shared awareness of energy together.
- We'll learn the different ways that energy flows in us when we're riding.
In the Fourth Section:-
- We learn Tai Chi Principles for Riding.
- We learn to Communicate with our horse through our energy riding, to give energetic aids to our horse, sometimes as well as physical aids and sometimes replacing them.
- We learn to give energetic aids in different ways using different elements of our energy system. Horses need no training in this, they just need a little time to get used to it. They love connecting with us in this way and having this energetic communication between us. It lifts our partnership to another level where we have a higher way of being together.
The way we learn in Equestrian Tai Chi is through Weekly Challenges where you'll get feedback on your practice:-
- Each week, you'll get new exercises to learn from one of the main 6 Subjects we'll be covering in the program.
- This way, you'll get through the training in a gradual way, that is not overwhelming while still being able to keep up momentum.
- Horses love the exercises in the program and they will be your partner as you go through it.
- It will deepen your partnership with your horse and your horse to be seen for the wonderful spiritual and energetic being he or she truly is.

This is what people are saying ...
Through practising Equestrian Tai Chi I have really enjoyed beginning to feel energy flowing in my body as I’m riding.
To begin with I practised some of the movements from the Tai Chi Form, first whilst standing, and then whilst seated on my horse ...with my friend standing at his head to ensure he kept fairly still.....He seemed to become very calm and relaxed in fact!More recently I’ve been following the exercises to feel energy moving in my legs and in my arms.
It’s really amazing to begin to realise how many ways energy is moving within our body and to begin to get a sense of how the horses movements link our energies together. It’s a lovely calming experience.Still lots more to learn, which I’m looking forward to!

I remember thinking that only mystics and sages would be able to feel the energy moving through their bones...
So fun! The biggest difference I can see, is that I can feel the energy moving along its full path much better now. So great to be able to feel it move through its full path. Also, I remember thinking that only mystics and sages would be able to feel the energy moving through their bones, but you really can feel the difference between the channels! I find it remarkable that we “regular folk” can feel that! So cool!

Funny I always thought it was due to the weight change that guides the horse round – but this has again given me a new insight!!
Today I had a brilliant session on Bronte, using everything that we have been doing. I started with some reins moving round the arena in all directions & practising slowing down too. By the end I had a go with no reins & no leg aids as such – totally in control & what I found really amazing was Bronte came in on a smaller circle(with her head bent to the inside) – it really felt so connected even without reins.
I have always done this exercise but the horse would have the head often pointing out so really fantastic that this can make such a difference!!

Giving directional aids through tuning into your energy syncs with the horse so beautifully...
I've been participating in the weekly challenges which vary week by week with new fun challenges, one of the latest being the riders energy through turns/corners. Giving directional aids through tuning into your energy syncs with the horse so beautifully and allows us to focus without effort giving very small subtle aids just by being aware, it has helped enormously with symmetry issues for both horse and rider. The connection you feel with your horse when you practice is amazing, I look forward every Week to my practice to further improve my riding and deepen the connection with the horses I ride and care for.

Imagine how it would be to ride your horse and feel energy flow through you, to be able to tune into different energy flows as you saw fit, to be able to pull together different aspects of your energy system to give your horse energetic aids that feel so smooth and connected and to be able to bring higher energies into you when you’re riding, to balance and connect you and your horse together.
Imagine too having an energetic practice that your horse likes so much, he'll go and park himself in his favourite spot and wait for you to start practicing on him!
This way of riding is a way that horses love, they are seen for the wonderful energetic spiritual beings they truly are, and they can share this aspect of themselves with you. It lifts their whole lives, not just the riding time they spend with you, they’re happier and more content in their field and stable as well.
It lifts our riding experience beyond the ordinary, to a deeper dimension inside ourselves that our horses can tune into and together we can connect.
